Within 6 weeks, DHSC<\/span> went from having no platform for learning and <\/span>development to having a world<\/span>–<\/span>class live platform<\/span> –<\/span> that supports the<\/span><\/span> full employee <\/span>lifecycle<\/span> –<\/span><\/span> with over 60% of the organisation compliant with mandatory training<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is the division of the government <\/span>responsibly for policy on health and adult social care matters in England, alongside some <\/span>parts of the same matters which<\/span> are not delegated to the other governing bodies of the <\/span>UK. Its policies are intended to improve quality of care and to help meet patient <\/span>expectations. It therefore also oversees the English National Health Service (NHS).<\/span><\/p>\n

The Challenge<\/h2>\n

Without a<\/span> learning platform<\/span>, the DHSC’s learning was fragmented and tracked offline, the <\/span>process itself<\/span> was<\/span> dated and time<\/span>–<\/span>consuming. They required compliance<\/a> content to be <\/span>tracked more effectively and for reporting to be improved and more readily availabl<\/span>e. <\/span>They therefore approached Totara partner Accipio<\/a><\/span> to design and customise a<\/span> learning platform<\/span> for them. <\/span>They had bold ambitions to transform learning<\/span> and support the employee lifecycle<\/span> across <\/span>the organisation and wanted to do so as quickly as possible<\/span> (within weeks)<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Solution<\/h2>\n

Accipio<\/span> rapidly<\/span> desig<\/span>ed<\/span> and deploy<\/span>ed<\/span> a Totara site within just 6 weeks. It provides an <\/span>innovative and engaging<\/span> platform to support employees with their learning and <\/span>development<\/span> throughout the full employee lifecycle,<\/span> from<\/span> onboarding to becoming a star <\/span>performer<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\"\"Key features include:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Full<\/span>–<\/span>onboarding with the<\/span> ability to track<\/span> and report on who has completed<\/span>
    compliance<\/span> training<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Diagnostics that<\/span> allow users to<\/span> reflect on their performance and<\/span> self<\/span>–<\/span>assess <\/span><\/span>against the Civil Service Behaviours framework<\/span>, receive feedback from others and <\/span>have this presented in a glossy downloadable report for further discussions with <\/span>their line manager<\/li>\n
  • Specific areas for job families and professions<\/span> to grow deeper pools of knowledge <\/span>and skills<\/span>, and we are currently using the platform to undertake a \u201cskills audit\u201d <\/span>across the organisation to identify gaps and recommend content and people to support<\/li>\n
  • Allowing users<\/span> to<\/span> receive personalised recommended content based on their <\/span>profile and activity<\/span>, and save and rate content.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The Results<\/h2>\n

    Within 6 weeks, the organisation went from having no platform for learning and development to having a world–<\/span>class live platform with over 60% of the organisation <\/span>compliant with mandatory training. The site allows ma<\/span>agers to easily see where the <\/span>gaps are in their compliance training requirements.\"\"The innovative site<\/span> with over 100 courses and 5,000 users<\/span> has transformed learning within <\/span>the organisation, with a modern, efficient<\/span> interface<\/span> that matches the DHSC’s bold <\/span>am<\/span>bitions.<\/span><\/span>C<\/span>areer development path<\/span>s and diagnostics are mapped to job families and professions <\/span>enabling<\/span> people to<\/span> become star performers through the<\/span> development of<\/span> targeted <\/span>knowledge, skills and behaviours.<\/span> People are able to<\/span> reflect on their own performance in <\/span>terms of<\/span> ‘how’<\/span> they<\/span> deliver and identify strengths and areas for growth.<\/span><\/span>\"\"A<\/span> platform<\/span>–<\/span>based<\/span> skills audit is also enabling the organisation to see where gaps exist, <\/span>and take action to<\/span> plug gaps to<\/span> lift organisational perfo<\/span>rmance.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    The platform has had<\/span> hugely positive feedback.<\/span> Learners particularly like the clean design, <\/span>which allows them to quickly locate whatever they need<\/span> with personalised <\/span>recommendations.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
