Every year Vasteras gets about 1,000\u00a0new residents, and at the end of 2012 there were around 140,000 residents in the city.<\/p>\n<p>The population increase is mainly due to positive net migration and\u00a0<strong>V\u00e4ster\u00e5s<\/strong>\u00a0is the largest local employer.
