The Society set out to understand, promote and educate on all topics related to reproductive biology and medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Today, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eshre.eu\/\">ESHRE<\/a> spearheads medical research and raises treatment standards through education. The society guides, trains and accredits medical professionals around the globe. It also organises meetings for specialists in the field of reproductive medicine and fertility and maintains important data registries.<\/p>\n<h3>The Challenge: Pivoting to An Effective E-Learning Strategy<\/h3>\n<p>Annual meetings \u2013 attracting an international attendance of around 10,000 delegates &#8211; play an important role in ESHRE\u2019s ultimate mission of driving improvements in the field of medically assisted reproduction and embryology. In addition, smaller and more topic focused workshops and courses are also being organised throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>These in-person meetings help host relevant discussions, spread expertise, stimulate publications in ESHRE\u2019s highly cited medical journals and fuel the content on ESHRE\u2019s eCampus, an online learning platform.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, ESHRE\u2019s in-person events were put on an indefinite pause due to COVID-19 and the limited travel options caused by the global lockdown. To continue educating medical professionals around the world, the organisation turned to its learning platform, which was already undergoing an overhaul since September 2018.This brought the limitations of the old platform to light:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The platform wasn\u2019t user-friendly; learners struggled to find the content they needed<\/li>\n<li>Admins (who could only upload videos and structure content in a basic way) found the platform inflexible and restrictive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a result, the L&amp;D team couldn\u2019t cater to the spiked demand for more advanced e-learning content.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cEverything was behind a wall, I couldn\u2019t change or structure differently. It was hard to change anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<footer>Titia Van Roy, E-learning and Communications<\/footer>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>The Solution: Upgrading to Powerfully Flexible Learning Management System<\/h3>\n<div data-embed-button=\"media_entity_image\" data-entity-embed-display=\"view_mode:media.full_width\" data-entity-type=\"media\" data-entity-uuid=\"d569d3ce-6fc1-4b79-a806-b02fdb948121\" data-langcode=\"en-US\">\n<div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.totaralearning.com\/sites\/default\/files\/2020-11\/homepage%20ESHRE%20LMS%20totara.png\" alt=\"ESHRE Totara LMS Homepage\" width=\"1022\" height=\"906\" \/><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In\u00a0search of a new learning platform, and to keep pace with a changing educational landscape, the organisation turned to Totara Partner, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.totaralearning.com\/en\/partners\/deloitte\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"d01e7fab-15f1-4ae5-86e1-d405458e7358\">Deloitte<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With Deloitte\u2019s help, they mapped out the new e-learning platform from start to finish.<\/p>\n<p>This started with an initial workshop that tested the platform on an external (non-admin) test group. After the workshop, Deloitte suggested Totara\u2019s Learning Management System, Totara Learn, to launch the new platform.<\/p>\n<p>Empowered by a host of new features and potential offered by Totara Learn, ESHRE\u2019s L&amp;D team worked with Deloitte to brainstorm:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Predefined learning homepage filters for a smoother learner experience<\/li>\n<li>Catalogs and filters for special interest learning groups<\/li>\n<li>Personas based on target learners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This was followed by multiple homepage prototypes, sprints, reviews, and tests to tailor the platform to ESHRE\u2019s unique needs.<\/p>\n<p>ESHRE praised Deloitte for how hands-on and \u201cagile\u201d they were throughout the entire project. This attention to detail is evident in the results generated by the new e-learning platform.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Deloitte is\u00a0great\u00a0to work with. Not only are they fast and attentive, but they also execute extremely well!&#8221;<\/p>\n<footer>Titia Van Roy, E-learning and Communications<\/footer>\n<\/blockquote>\n<footer><\/footer>\n<div data-embed-button=\"media_entity_image\" data-entity-embed-display=\"view_mode:media.full_width\" data-entity-type=\"media\" data-entity-uuid=\"c89ce973-8238-460b-a83d-3c1275fef1ad\" data-langcode=\"en-US\">\n<div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.totaralearning.com\/sites\/default\/files\/2020-11\/catalogue%20LMS%20ESHRE.png\" alt=\"ESHRE catalogue\" width=\"956\" height=\"1493\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>The Results: An All-purpose eCampus That Empowers ESHRE\u2019s Missio<\/h3>\n<p>Inflexibility, lack of control and poor user experience plagued ESHRE\u2019s previous learning platform. But thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.totaralearning.com\/resources\/totara-learn-functionality-overview\">Totara Learn\u2019s transformational features<\/a> and Deloitte\u2019s excellent execution, the organisation has adapted its learning platform to scale post-pandemic operations and further its mission.<\/p>\n<p>ESHRE also added gamification to its platform to motivate learners with tangible rewards. Embryologists who score 100% on a quiz after taking an exam, for instance, are awarded CPD credits (from ESHRE) that evidence the fact that they are developing even further with, among other things, the eCampus platform.<\/p>\n<p>Learners also can collect CME (Continuous Medical Education) credits with the Campus Workshops. (In some countries, these CME credits are required to show that professionals continue to learn and educate themselves.)<\/p>\n<p>Other key results include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improved and diverse learning content in the form of videos, courses, quizzes, live webinars and more<\/li>\n<li>Access to (previously unavailable) reporting capabilities<\/li>\n<li>Dedicated pages to host live conferences streamed from Youtube\/Vimeo.<\/li>\n<li>Custom-built chat functions on live stream pages to provoke discussions and questions &#8211;\u00a0just like an actual in-person event<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The thing I like the most about our new learning platform is that it\u2019s very flexible and I can work independently.
