Zurich is a leading multi-line insurance company serving its clients in global and local markets. Born in Switzerland, it has approximately 55,000 employees and offers property, accident and life insurance products and services in more than 215 countries and territories.
The Challenge
In 2020, Zurich identified several learning needs for its Portuguese network of insurers and agents, so they needed a new way of managing their training with increasing growth needs and learning requirements.Zurich needed an online training platform that integrated with its internal software, which could be adapted to new learning needs of their insurance agents. Zurich wanted to manage present and future learning – both face-to-face training and online training – comprising compliance training, soft skills and product training as required by the company and regulators.Zurich aims to gradually increase to 5,000 insurance Zurich partners in Portugal, who will use this platform for their learning needs, having access to a group of courses tailored to their needs.
The Solutio
Zurich chose to work with Gold Totara Partner EDUdigital to implement a complete Totara learning experience, that can be scalable with their needs. EDUdigital designed and developed the learning management system (LMS) to support the talent development of their employees’ skills, both online and seminars, for behavioral and technical training. The configuration of the platform and its integration with the MyZurich system focuses on monitoring and managing all their learning, attendance, in-person and online sessions, learning programs and total training hours.EDUdigital is constantly developing new configurations on the Totara platform and giving support day after day, adapting to Zurich’s new needs every week. Single sign-on and LDAP accesses were configured to allow users to access the LMS with their normal accounts, without having to create new accounts, making it easier for agents to access the LMS. The Totara platform and its bilateral integration with the MyZurich system was planned to support the blended learning strategy, articulating both types of seminars and webinars. It is configured for mandatory training and certification processes according to legal requirements in the insurance sector. They set up learning plans, and EDUdigital also used Totara’s audiences functionality to allow Zurich to organize its agents by types, profiles, tasks and areas to facilitate the management of training and reflect the organizational structure.The Totara platform has been fully customized to Zurich’s requirements, including the link between their human resources software, the branding design and a custom landing page, to ensure that the LMS is consistent with the Zurich look and feel and Zurich’s overarching digital communication.The users can access all courses information from their own platform, MyZurich, exploring all open courses and having direct access to the LMS with auto-login.
The Results
Zurich has a full, feature-rich Totara Learn platform that allows them to manage all the training of their agents and business partners – technical skills, soft skills and microlearning topics for both the present and the future.Zurich now has an efficient way to manage learning activities, in a solution with a perfectly flexible base, which reflects its organizational structure and its teams. With seamless integration with MyZurich, the user experience is enhanced, giving them more options to access Totara Learn and their learning activities. The users can also view their new courses in MyZurich.Zurich can also exchange information between the various human resources software and the platform, using performance management tools, facilitating the connection and achievement of goals with innovative synchronous and asynchronous training tools.EDUdigital continues to support Zurich, and both parties are involved in this digital training solution, with the success of the platform and its global partnership.
