Caixa Enginyers is a credit cooperative with more than 55 years of experience and a responsible, sustainable banking model. It serves more than 216,000 members through 33 branches, supported by a team of more than 500 professionals. Within a competitive financial environment, the organisation places strong emphasis on training and professional development to support continued growth.
The challenge
Caixa Enginyers set out to reposition its existing e-learning platform as a central hub for professional development. The aim was to strengthen internal talent and enhance employability through a more adaptable system that could integrate with processes such as onboarding. The organisation also sought to provide a more autonomous and efficient learning experience aligned with the changing demands of the banking sector.
A further requirement was a system that could scale in line with organisational growth while remaining compatible with internal rules and regulatory requirements. The platform needed to support customised training itineraries and modules to address both individual and collective development needs. Integration with other internal systems was also necessary to accommodate increasing training demand and ensure operational alignment.

The Solution
To meet these requirements, Totara partner Actua implemented e-talent as a tailored learning ecosystem built on Totara Learn. The platform provides the flexibility required to align learning delivery with Caixa Enginyers’ development objectives.
In 2023, the introduction of Totara Perform enabled performance evaluation processes to be incorporated into the platform, linking learning activity with required competencies. Alongside internal training provision, employees were given access to external content catalogues such as GoodHabitz. This expanded the training offer and supported ongoing adaptation of content to maintain relevance and engagement.
Totara was integrated with Caixa Enginyers’ ERP system to streamline user management and connect performance plans with the needs of each business area. The platform also enabled the creation of customised reports, improving oversight of training activity. Access to structured data supports the Talent and Culture team, as well as team leaders and employees, in managing professional development. As a result, e-talent functions as a consolidated environment for learning and performance management within the organisation.
The results
Following the implementation of e-talent, annual training hours increased from 26,000 to more than 47,000 in 2024. The platform has supported improvements in the employee learning experience and strengthened engagement, while enabling more structured talent management through automation, scalability and tailored content provision.

e-talent has transformed the way we learn and develop, driving both individual and collective growth within Caixa Enginyers.
