Geutebrück transforms the extended enterprise experience with Totara Learn

Geutebrück, founded in 1970 in Germany, is an expert in video management solutions. The video security solutions protect organisations and property. The solutions for process documentation support the optimisation of processes. Geutebrück offers hardware and software, installation, commissioning and maintenance – all from a single source.

The Challenge

Geutebrück was using a SaaS Learning Management System with limited functionalities. The users were managed in a separate HR-System. The administration of the platform was time-consuming and was lacking automation. It was time to switch to a more suitable system – especially one that allows Geutebrück to use it as an extended enterprise platform, providing the best digital learning experience to their employees, partners, and customers. Thus, they chose to implement Totara Learn with LearnChamp.

When switching to a new system, content and data migration can be a challenge and the migration had to be planned in the early stage of the project with enough time and resources. Also, as Totara offers a wide range of settings and options, getting to know the vast opportunities of the system was a big transition for the administrators.

The Solution

With the Implementation of Totara Learn Geutebrück now has a system that suits their needs and provides all users and administrators with a vastly improved experience.

Geutebrück especially appreciates the numerous opportunities Totara offers compared to their previous LMS – be it the fast and easy creation of users and automated enrolment to courses, the option to use badges and gamification, the advantages of programs and certifications and more. Regarding their partners and customers Totara’s multi tenancy function and the option for self-registration raise their offering to a whole new level.

Through the Totara Academy courses and LearnChamp’s customised admin training, the admin team was able to quickly find their way into the new platform and make full use of the possibilities.

The implementation has been done in the Totara standard with additional custom implementation by LearnChamp. A strict multitenant setup offers the base for future growth of the system. Currently, the system provides three different tenants – for employees, partners, and customers – configured to meet their needs in the best way possible. This way learners can enjoy their mandatory training programmes in the best user experience, provided by Totara. With the very consistent and easy to navigate and filter catalogue, users can also browse through all courses and choose to complete non-mandatory ones as well. Many courses are also available in multilingual setup, as the user audience is coming from different countries.

The project is still in the very first stage after the GoLive but constantly evolving and creating new opportunities along the Geutebrück roadmap of digital learning offerings.

Results

  • After the short implementation process of Totara Learn and finding an appropriate naming (LearninG) for the platform the company uses the platform with growing user numbers, distributed into three different tenants.
  • Learners enjoy a platform, providing the best possible user experience with eye-catching system design.
  • The easy creation of users In Totara and the possibility to automatically enrol users to courses through dynamic audiences saves the administrators a lot of time. They are 80% faster than they were before in the previous system.
  • As feedback Is very Important to Geutebrück, users can immediately send their thoughts to the company using a specific email address Implemented In a featured links block on each course page and dashboard.

 

  • Badges are awarded and displayed in the user profiles to motivate learners.
  • The platform mainly focuses on e-learning. For more options in creating course content the H5P plugin was Installed.
  • The glossary activity Is used to help users learn new terms along the way while displaying the glossary block on dashboards and course pages.

 

  • Programs and certifications are used intensively. The option of dynamic dates gives the admins the ability to enrol learners to programs at a later date and still automatically ensure they have adequate time for completion.
  • Multitenancy and the possibility of self-registration allow Geutebrück to provide learning and content to partners and customers in an easy, secure, and user-friendly way.
